我们都知道steal的意思是“偷，窃”，这明显是个动词，不过在英语口语中，steal也是可以做名词使用的。

名词steal的意思可不是“盗窃案”，而是指“极廉价的物品；低价”，这种用法主要在美国使用，所以“It’s a steal”的意思是“非常的便宜，非常的划算”，便宜到简直就跟偷来的一样。asteal的同义词是bargain/ˈbɑː.ɡɪn/，意思也是“便宜货；减价品”，比如：

I picked up a new iron in the sale - it was a steal.

我在大减价时买了个新熨斗——非常便宜。

This coat was half-price - a real bargain.

这件大衣是半价买的——真便宜。

今天我们来认识几个能表示“便宜到简直像是白送”的英语短语吧！

①cost next to nothing

next to nothing的意思是“几乎什么都没有；非常少量”，用英语解释也就是a very small amount，甚至是almost nothing，这个短语的使用范围很广泛，不只能用来表示数量的少，比如：

He knows a great deal about flowers but next to nothing about trees and shrubs.

他对花很了解，但对树木和灌木几乎一无所知。

所以，如果说某样东西cost next to nothing，或者你buy sth for next to nothing，那就表示你几乎没花什么钱就买到了。

He was able to buy the neighbouring farm for next to nothing.

他几乎没花什么钱就买下了邻近的农场。

② dirt cheap

“像土一样便宜”dirt cheap既是形容词，又是副词词，意思是“非常便宜”，等同于very cheap，比如：

It was dirt cheap.

这太便宜了。

I got it dirt cheap.

我买得非常便宜。

③ for a song

这是口语用法，指“非常便宜地”，这个表达来源的一种说法是给在旅馆和酒吧外演出的巡回歌手少量的钱当做报酬。

Because the shop’s closing down, most of the stock is going for a song (= being sold very cheaply).

这家商店要关门了，所以大多数存货都廉价出售。

④ cheap and cheerful

不同于上面的那几个表达，cheap and cheerful不只能表示“价廉”，而且还“物美”，这是个英式英语表达，更常在英国使用。

There’s a restaurant round the corner that serves cheap and cheerful food.

街角处有家饭店，那里的饭菜价廉物美。
